Q&A

What is your occupation? Director of Operations Readiness for a financial tech company

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Riding my Harley and hunting.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?  The one that sticks with me the most is when someone critiques you whether its a performance review at work, a family member that is upset with you, or even a no rep during a WOD, just listen and learn from it. It might hurt or you may disagree but instead of simply getting upset try to understand the reason for it and use it to improve yourself. It will make you a better person in the long run..

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? Been doing CrossFit for going on 10 years, Started Wayfarer Nov 2020.

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit?  I could pick the standard accomplishments of a bar muscle up or a PR at something, but really my biggest accomplishment is continuing to come and do the workouts. I have worked out in the past but never stuck with it due to not seeing results that I expected and basically becoming bored.

Why did you start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? I saw CrossFit on TV and was very interested in the variety it provided. Plus, as I was getting older and I saw people my age slowing down and struggling to get from point A to B without stopping for a rest and that made me want to do something different and not be like them. I started at Wayfarer because I felt I needed a change. I was feeling like I was stuck at a certain point and wanted to try a different gym to see if I can continue to make improvements.

Favorite WOD/movement? I have many but if I had to choose it would be the shorter sprint types of WODs that include overhead presses.

Least favorite WOD/movement? The dreaded BURPEE!!! And any WOD that includes them!!!!

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? AC/DC….. is there any other music?

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? I guess I can go with pizza, but even that isn’t that big of a deal if I had to give it up.

What is your worst gym habit? Not stretching enough and working on improving flexibility.

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? First simply walk through the door and then once in the gym do NOT compare yourself to others. Focus on yourself and compete against yourself from day to day.

How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? At first surprised and then honored to know others recognize the work we all put in every day. Just adds to the want and need to continue walking through the door knowing that my efforts are paying off.

What the (Blank)?

My typical post workout meal is chicken or grilled shrimp or salmon and either sweet corn, Brussel sprouts, broccoli or cauliflower

I can’t go to the gym without My bag with my CrossFit life in it. Even if we just run the bag with everything in it has to go into the gym with me.

CrossFit is a need for me. I need it to help unwind after a day at work. I also see now that I needed it to help me open up and meet many new people and make many new friends. It’s hard for me to put into words what all CrossFit has done, and continues to do, for me.
