Congratulations to Taren for being named August’s “Member of the Month”! In accordance with our core values at Wayfarer CrossFit, Taren exemplifies respect, selflessness, a great attitude, and a solid attendance record.

We recently sat down with Taren to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her better. Her answers are in bold.

Q&A

What is your occupation? Health and Physical Education Teacher

What class time do you normally attend? 4:30pm

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I love to do anything outdoors, hangout with friends and family, and travel!

What is the best advice you’ve been given? Love others the way God has first loved us.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? I’ve been doing CrossFit for a little over a year and have spent the entire time training at Wayfarer

What is the biggest accomplishment since you started doing CrossFit? I would have to say improving my running or my overhead squats

Why did you choose to start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer? I started doing CrossFit because I knew it was the challenge that I needed to really push myself. I chose Wayfarer because I love the way I’m encouraged and challenged by all the members!

Favorite WOD/movement? Controversial, but probably burpees

Least favorite WOD/movement? Thrusters, no questions asked

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Love when the pop/rap throwbacks come on

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? Nachos

What is your worst gym habit? Excessively foam rolling before a workout but not stretching afterwards

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? I would encourage everybody to give it a chance. It really is what you make it. It’s so adaptable to every level of fitness and it’s way better to lift heavy with your friends than alone

How does it feel to be named MoTM? Such an honor. When I look and see the people who have earned this title before me I’m thankful to be recognized alongside of them

WHAT THE BLANK?

My typical post workout meal is cajun chicken patties.

I can’t go to the gym without my Yeti tilled with ice cold water.

CrossFit is one of the best things that ever happened to me. Everyday I’m so thankful that I took the plunge and did it for my physical and mental health!
