Q&A

What is your occupation? Engineer – I do corporate environmental legacy liability management.

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I like to golf but don’t get to play often enough. I enjoy doing house projects. I’m a big baseball fan and have been to over 30 baseball stadiums.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?  A plan makes a dream possible.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? Since October 2017. All at Wayfarer

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit?  Cutting over 10 minutes off my Murph time from last year.

Why did you start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? It was more or less an accident. My wife Patty had started in January 2017 and had suggested several times that I try a class. I was always able to find an excuse not to go. Then one evening, our neighbor, Christina G. called Patty to let her know that she was going to start CrossFit again after recovering from an injury. She was starting on-ramp the next day. Christina suggested to Patty that I start on-ramp with her. I didn’t have a good excuse to not go. I took the first class and have kept coming back.

Favorite WOD/movement? I don’t think I like any of them!!

Least favorite WOD/movement? Burpees (Editor’s Note: this is funny because Mike joined a burpee challenge – doing 100 burpees a day for 30 days.)

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Whatever is playing

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? A great steak and a big well aged Cabernet!

What is your worst gym habit? Groaning during the workout!

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? Just do it! After smoking for 30 years and not doing any form of regular exercise for decades, it’s never too late to start taking care of yourself.

How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? Humbling

What the (Blank)?

My typical post workout meal is usually, I just have coffee. I usually work out in the morning and typically don’t eat anything until lunch.

I can’t go to the gym without my water.

CrossFit is a never ending challenge!
