We recently sat down with Shaun to ask him a few questions so you can get to know him better. His answers are in bold.

What is your occupation? Director of Operations Strategy, CVS Health
What class time do you normally attend? 7 PM sometimes 5:45 PM
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Mountain Biking, Snowboarding, Martial Arts, Gaming
What is the best advice you’ve been given? Progress isn’t linear, there will be peaks and valleys.
How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? 6+ years only at Wayfarer
What is the biggest accomplishment since you started doing CrossFit? Having hip replacement surgery and coming back to the gym to PR lifts and WODs
Why did you choose to start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer? I actually didn’t really know what CrossFit was at the time… I was looking for a fitness class near my home, and Wayfarer was right up the street. I was really impressed by Coach Nate and how friendly all of the members were and decided to sign up. Now it’s just part of my lifestyle.
Favorite WOD/movement? Snatch – even though it’s not my best
Least favorite WOD/movement? Overhead squats!
What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Hard rock or EDM bangers
What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? “The Morning After” breakfast with strawberry hotcakes from Pamela’s diner
What is your worst gym habit? Falling on the floor after every WOD 🙂
What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? Scale for life! You are better off to hit the workout stimulus with scaled weights/movements. Also, I know CrossFit can be competitive, but just starting out, you really only need to compete with yourself and strive to make continuous small improvements over time.
How does it feel to be named MoTM? Amazing!!

I can’t go to the gym without chalk and my hat.
CrossFit is the best part of my day.
