Congratulations to Bonnie for winning October’s “Member of the Month” award! In accordance with our core values at Wayfarer CrossFit, Bonnie exemplifies respect, selflessness, a great attitude, and a solid attendance record.

We recently sat down with Bonnie to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her better. Her answers are in bold.

Q&A

What is your occupation? have my Bachelor in the Science of Nursing and I work part time as an assistant at Service Wealth Management. In Arizona I volunteer at the kitty shelter as a medical assistant.

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? I love hiking, gardening, cooking, reading and thrift shopping.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?  Someone else’s opinion of you is not your reality.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? I have been doing CrossFit since Wayfarer opened. I think its been 6 1/2 years!

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit?  Going from no pull ups to kipping pull ups, connecting my toes to bar with kipping and getting double unders.

Why did you start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? I discovered Wayfarer because it opened right next to our office. I started CrossFit because I was getting bored of Les Mills, which I had done for years

Favorite WOD/movement? Sit ups because they come easy to me. I like kettlebell swings, too.

Least favorite WOD/movement? Running! Though I’ve been running a mile 5 days a week in AZ to get better.

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Hip hop and pop.

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? Pasta, it’s just too darn good!

What is your worst gym habit? Getting to class just in the nick of time. Gotta work on that, sorry!

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? It’s more than just a workout. It’s an uplifting community that has each others backs. Its a workout of the body and mind. And there is no CrossFit movement that cannot be modified or scaled to your own personal ability.

How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? I am honored, thank you!!!

What the (Blank)?

My typical post workout meal is scrambled egg whites with a slice of Ezekiel bread and cream cheese.

I can’t go to the gym without my water.

CrossFit is a workout, a family, a community, and an inspiration.
