We recently sat down with Katie to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her better. Her answers are in bold.

Q&A

What is your occupation? Sales Executive for Pure Storage

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Coffee.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?  Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut. – I should preface, this is the best advice I have received. I don’t always follow it:) BUT I ALWAYS follow it when traveling alone in strange cities.

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? About 15ish months

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit?  My first class called for wall squats. I did a wall sit and Heather kindly told me to turn around 🙂 – I can now follow along well, scale and even do the workout, ha! Seriously, the biggest accomplishment was mental. I’m no longer afraid to keep my workout going after everyone is done. When you’re new you over scale to hide. – I’m over it. I don’t care anymore. That’s the hardest part.

Why did you start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? Proximity to my house:) Also the whitty social media. (editor’s note: someone just became the best MoTM in history)

Favorite WOD/movement? Deadlifts and squats from the rack. Not sure why lol.

Least favorite WOD/movement? Jump rope, rowing, then burpees

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? I’m all over the place with music. My current spotify list goes: Lil Wayne, Luda, ACDC, DMX, Spice Girls, Linkin Park, Cypress Hill , Chevelle, Jimmy Eat World and Latin Pop (yup)

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? Friday Night Pizza

What is your worst gym habit? Sweating

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? Just show up and stop caring about everyone else. Fun fact 2/3 of us can’t do it either 🙂 That’s why we keep showing up.

How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? Validated

What the (Blank)?

My typical post workout meal is a shake, maybe a fist full of frosted flakes. All while I’m wrangling small children to get ready for school.

I can’t go to the gym without AboutTime Pre.

CrossFit is both metal and physical which keeps you interested. Although I could use less math at 5:30 am
