Q&A
What is your occupation? College Student
What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Hunting, fishing, horseback riding, spending time with family, hanging out with friends
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? You can’t control every situation you’re in, but you can control how you react to every situation. Don’t make excuses for yourself just because life has been unfair to you.
How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? I started out at Wayfarer in 2017 but mostly did weightlifting. I started doing the WODs a month or two before I left for basic training. I’ve been doing the WODs consistently since I got back in late November.
What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit? I feel great physically and mentally compared to when I started. My aerobic capacity has also improved a lot.
What made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? I knew I needed to expand my goals in the gym to more than just weightlifting. I had been going to Wayfarer for a couple years already and Crossfit provided me with an opportunity to try something new.
Favorite WOD/movement? Clean & jerk
Least favorite WOD/movement? Burpees
What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Rap or rock
What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? Any kind of chocolate.
What is your worst gym habit? I avoid running at all costs and I tend to focus on the amount of weight I can lift rather than focusing on proper mechanics.
What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? I would be honest with them and tell them that they’re going to feel tired and sore for the first couple weeks, but to push through it. Once they get over that barrier then they’ll feel great after the workouts and will start to see themselves improve, which makes it all worth it. I would also recommend Wayfarer because the coaches are very knowledgeable, and the atmosphere in the gym is friendly. There are people of all ages and physical capabilities, so there is no need to be afraid to start.
How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? It feels good because it shows that the work I’ve put into the gym is paying off.
What the (Blank)?
My typical post workout meal is any kind of lean meat, a vegetable, and either rice or pasta.
I can’t go to the gym without my Nike Metcon shoes. Once I started working out in them, I hate to workout in any other type of shoe.
CrossFit is (as well as weightlifting) my stress reliever. When I’m at the gym, I don’t think about anything else. The gym has allowed me to live a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally.
