We recently sat down with Heather to ask her a few questions so you can get to know her better. Her answers are in red.


Q&A


What is your occupation? CrossFit Coach (guess where?!) and handmade artisan jewelry maker

What are your hobbies outside of CrossFit? Making jewelry and playing with my ausshole dog.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?  One of my fave quotes I read which rings true is “Your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, and your actions dictate your destiny”

How long have you been doing CrossFit? How long at Wayfarer? 7 years all at Wayfarer.

What is the biggest accomplishment you’ve achieved since you started doing CrossFit?  Being smart enough to scale the workouts for myself. Also hitting a few PR lifts at the awesome age of 48!

Why did you start doing CrossFit and what made you choose Wayfarer CrossFit? I was looking for something more while teaching group fitness. A couple members approached me about how I would love CrossFit. So I will blame it on Bonnie and Season.

Favorite WOD/movement? Snatches and gymnastic movements

Least favorite WOD/movement? Wallballs and running anything over 200m. Totally unnecessary.

What is your favorite music to listen to during a workout? Rap and anything loud.

What is the one cheat meal you won’t give up no matter what? Hold on to your britches…. Doritos, mallow cup and a Coke Zero.

What is your worst gym habit? Bathroom breaks and taping up.

What would you recommend to someone that is just starting CrossFit or is too afraid to try it? Do it. Everyone will support you. The group effect is real. “It’s a slow process but quitting won’t speed it up.”

How does it feel to be named Member of the Month? Awesome!

My typical post workout meal is toast with peanut butter and banana or Greek yogurt with fruit.


I can’t go to the gym without tape and coffee.


CrossFit is empowering! Women need iron. Iron teaches us how strong we can be inside and outside of the gym!
